President's Corner

Debbie Rosenberg

It’s hard to believe the 2015/2016 school year is nearing its end – however all the planning for the Spring/Summer SiVY activities is our indication. There are a lot of big youth bridge events planned and this newsletter highlights them to keep our volunteers, parents, kids, and donors informed.

The next big thing coming up is the second annual Bay Area High School Bridge Championship, to be contested April 17 at the Bayshore Bridge Club in Burlingame. Several teams have already signed up, including a few repeats from last year. At least one team is expected all the way from Reno! The Team Championship is a competition between high schools, while the Pairs Championship is open to all high school players. We will be happy to help pair any students who don’t have a partner from their own school.

Coming up this summer are the 3rd Annual SiVY Bridge Summer Camp, the 2nd year of SiVY Sponsorships and Training for the Youth North American Bridge Championships (NABC), and the World Youth Team Championship (or WBF) events, featuring several SiVY players. We are featuring stories of a couple of players who have been, or plan to be involved in these bridge happenings.

Thank you again to the dozens of volunteers who make the monthly events, the after school programs, the mentor program, casual Fridays, summer camps, and all our SiVY activities successful. Without the volunteers there would be no SiVY bridge.

If you’d like to keep up with us more frequently, be sure to visit us here on our website and like us on Facebook.  And please consider joining us in our mission to inspire the next generation of bridge players in the Silicon Valley.
