Silicon Valley Youth Bridge

About our Pizza Parties

Young bridge players enjoy challenging competition and good food at the monthly Silicon Valley Youth (SiVY) Bridge party.

Kids with all levels of experience are welcome.

The pairs in the Contract Bridge section practice skills in bidding as well as play. For the pairs in the Mini-Bridge section, bidding is not required. Great prizes are awarded to all the winners.

Some bridge players play just for fun, new players learn to play Whist.

All the tables finish in plenty of time to eat yummy deserts before their parents arrive to collect them!

The SiVY monthly events are held to provide kids from our after school classes a chance to meet aspiring players from other schools and organizations. They are also a great way for kids who have learned from adult family to play bridge with other young people.

Our event was held at the Santa Clara Valley Spring Sectional tournament in Saratoga. "I was pleasantly surprised to see so many youngsters playing bridge on a sunny day." - Santa Clara Valley Unit president Ray Yuenger.

Britt d'Arezzo and Brent Xiao were first overall in the Bridge Tournament. This was Britt's first ACBL tournament, and she is off to a great start.

Highlights

Bridge is a family game

One table of parents got a short, crash course in bidding and play. We hope this will help them play bridge with their kids.

One of our winners, Rory Xiao, chose a SiVY T-shirt for his dad as his prize. Rory (as was his partner) was wearing the SiVY T-shirt he won at an earlier event.

Our bridge games are American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) sanctioned awarding masterpoints (MP) to high scorers. ACBL membership is not required for our games but is strongly suggested. You can join online or at the Bridge Center on the night of an event. Adult membership is $28 for the first year and junior membership only $15 per year. Both include a monthly print magazine and registration of masterpoints (start earning towards becoming a Life Master!).
