President's Corner

As we wrap up another year of after school programs, SiVY volunteers are already hard at work on end of school year and summer events. This newsletter highlights those upcoming activities.

Next month will be the fifth annual Bay Area High School Bridge Championship. The competition is slated for April 28, 2019 at the Bridge Center in Mountain View and promises to once again be a stellar event!

In June we will hold the sixth annual Bridge Summer Camp at the IFES Hall next door to the Bridge Center and in July the Youth North American Bridge Championships will be held in Las Vegas. SiVY Bridge offers sponsorships to help with training and travel costs.

In 2018, SiVY Bridge youth distinguished themselves at the District level with their Mini-McKenney performance and results in the North American Pairs and Grand National Teams. You can read about them in the article contributed by guest author and founding volunteer of SiVY, Lynn Johannesen. Lynn also contributed a great overview of the special “Double Dummy, the Movie" screening hosted by SiVY Bridge in January. Thanks Lynn!

The organization wouldn’t exist were it not for the hundreds of volunteers who have spent thousands of hours teaching, mentoring, providing snacks, creating flyers and brochures, and dozens of other jobs over SiVY Bridge’s six year history. Thank you to each and every one of our parents, youth players, and volunteers for helping make Silicon Valley Youth (SiVY) Bridge a success.
