Congratulations Andrew Chen, youngest Life Master ever!
Congratulations to Andrew Chen, 8 years and 3 days, becoming ACBL’s youngest life master! Previous record was held by Zach Garrison, who was 9 years, 2 months and 7 days. It is worth noting the requirement for life master used to be 300 points and changed to be 500 points for members who joined after 2010.
Andrew is part of our program and enjoys playing bridge with other youth in our program. Pictures of Andrew at our events.

SiVY Youth Vie for District 21 Flight C Grand National Teams
February 11-12, 2017: Fourteen teams entered the District 21 Flight C Grand National Teams event to select the team to represent District 21 at this year's ACBL Grand National Teams. 17 SiVY youth players, ranging in age from 11-21, were on five different teams, two of which also included parents. Two teams with youth players made it to the semi-finals, where they each lost a fairly close match.
The winning team was Max Schireson, Cadir Lee, Olivier Chapelle, and Aravind Alwan. The first three of those winners are parents of SiVY players! They will represent the district at the North American Bridge Championship in Toronto this summer.
This event provided great experience for the players, and we expect to see youth teams in the finals of this event next year, and for years to come!
Our thanks to Bo Xiao and Max Schireson for organizing the youth teams. Photo credit to Qing Lu.

February 22-23, 2016: Congratulations to Olivia d'Arezzo and Cornelius Duffie on their decisive victory in the 0-99 game at Saturday's San Mateo sectional. The pair scored 61% to win the event. Olivia and Cornelius' names will be engraved on the Art Weinstein memorial trophy along with past winners and the trophy will be displayed at the Bayshore Bridge club.
Lucas Huang and Jonathan Shi were first in their direction, and second overall in the 26 pair event. Our youth players dominated their older competition!
Congrats also go to Casual Friday mentors Nate Munger and Ankur Rathi, who won the main two session open pairs event. They may be learning something from all of our players at Casual Fridays. :)
