Fifth Annual Bay Area High School Bridge Championship
by Lynn Johannesen
It’s time to form your teams of four to six players from the same high school for the Bay Area High School Bridge Championship on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at the Bridge Center in Mountain View. The event will consist of a day-long team event and an afternoon pair event, with a free lunch for all participants in both championship events. An optional warm-up pair event will be held in the morning. The event is free for all participants.
The winning team will receive gift cards with a total worth of $800, a trophy for their school, and personal trophies for each team member. Winners of the afternoon pair event will each win gift cards worth up to $125 and personal trophies. Both members in each pair need not be from the same school.
The mandatory registration deadline for teams is March 30. Pairs are not required to register, but only players who register by the March 30th deadline will be guaranteed to receive tee shirts and other gifts.
All participants in the championship are invited to a training session at the Bridge Center in Mountain View on Saturday, April 20, from 1 to 5 PM. Three-time High School Championship winner Sarah Youngquist will oversee the session. Ideally pairs who plan to play together will practice together, but SiVY Bridge volunteers will make sure partners are available for any individual players who come to the session.
Details of the format, requirements, and schedule for the events are provided below. A free lunch will be served to all participants in both events at about 1:30 PM.
